All residents can vote in Dublin City Council elections. It only takes a few minutes. The deadline to register to vote in the next election is the 20th of May.
If you have a MyGovID, I recommend using it as it is the quickest and easiest way to register.
If you do not have a MyGovID, you can register with your PPS number.
When registering with your PPSN, I recommend filling in the details manually and not using your browser’s autofill feature — especially for your address. Please also note that the “Proof of citizenship” request is not required unless there’s been a change in your citizenship.
Moving your vote
Still registered at your parents’ home? Moved home recently? It’s now really easy to change your vote to your current home and make sure you have a say where you live. If you move, you can change it again in just a few minutes!
If you’re living outside Dublin, please use checktheregister.ie to register to vote. This new national online registration system was launched by my Green Party colleague Minister Malcolm Noonan in November 2022 and will enable much more people to vote in the upcoming June 2024 local and European elections.
There are over 50,000 adults living in the Cabra-Glasnevin electoral area but only 37,000 are registered to vote and only 16,500 voted in the 2019 local election. I will be conducting voter registration drives over the next year to get as many people as possible to register to vote. Remember, all residents can vote in local elections!
