The contractor is currently installing ESB high voltage ducting on the northern canal towpath between Cross Guns Bridge and Lock 3. The pedestrian and cycle bridge abutments are under construction near Lock 3. The bridge itself is being built off site and is scheduled to be delivered to site in two sections, assembled on site and lifted in to place in July.
The contractor took temporary possession of Portland Place Park in May in order to use it as a secondary site compound and to access the section of canal towpath between Binns Bridge and Russell Street Bridge. The park will be refurbished and reopened upon completion of the project in 2025.
Phase 4 will deliver 4.3km of walking and cycling facilities between Phibsborough Road (Cross Guns Bridge) and Ashtown. It’s currently scheduled to begin construction in 2024.
