Dublin City Council has informed me that they’re planning to increase bus lane operational hours in the area to reduce bus journey times in the evenings and weekends.

Most of the bus lanes on Ballymun Road and Finglas Road are planned to be extended to 24hrs. Bus lanes on Mobhi Road and Botanic Road — which are currently 7am-7pm Monday to Saturday — will be extended to include Sundays.

On Dorset Street, they’re looking at extending the hours later into the evening. Sundays were added to the Dorset Street bus lane a few years ago to reduce delays especially on match days in Croke Park.

They will also review the bus lanes on Navan Road and I will be pushing for increased operational hours to reduce bus journey times for people living in Cabra, Ashtown and further afield.

The Drumcondra Road bus lane was recently changed from 7-10am & 12-7pm to 24hrs and has made a positive impact on bus journey times especially in the evenings.
