Cabra DART station plans published

Plans for the new station at Hamilton Gardens in Cabra have been published and will be on display at the Deaf Village campus from 26th June to 2nd July.

The station will have an entrance from Cabra Road and another entrance into Hamilton Gardens is proposed as a possibility. I will be seeking to ensure that there’s an entrance into Hamilton Gardens and onto Faussagh Avenue.

The new station will comprise of two platforms approximately 174 metres long, one northbound and one southbound on the existing Phoenix Park Tunnel line.

Pedestrian lifts, stairs and a covered footbridge over the railway will provide access to the second platform. The footbridge will feature frosted glass to prevent over-looking into houses on Quarry Road while allowing natural light in.

Both platforms will have CCTV cameras, passenger information screens and passenger shelters.

The design works for the new station started in 2023 and it’s expected that Irish Rail will submit the project to An Bord Pleanála for approval at the end of 2025.

You can find more details on the Irish Rail website and provide feedback on the proposals by emailing cabra@irishrail.ie.

While this is separate to the DART+ project, it is planned to be built at the same time in coordination. DART+ will electrify the Phoenix Park tunnel line going through Cabra and greatly increase the number of services on this line.
